As I stayed in town last weekend, I felt a need to head to the beach this weekend, especially after a rather long and tiring week at work. Report cards are due, parent conferences loom on the horizon of next week, and the kids are letting us know that Spring Break cannot come soon enough. So, here I am on what proved to be a lovely sunny afternoon (after a morning rain dump) on the ocean side of our peninsula.
The waves were crashing tremendously, and as the tide was pretty high, I got some close-ups of the action.
I even decided to give my Chacos a go today - not too cold, till I got to Damon Point when the clouds reappeared taking away the warmth and spitting a few drops to send me back to my car.
What is it about the crashing, churning water that draws me? The swell rising up, overtaking anything in its path into the tumultuous intensity. Tiny grains of sand grinding together over and over again, changing the texture of the beach with each tide.
I got a little carried away with trying to capture the diversity of the waves (splashy pics) and had too many to post here, so here's a little slideshow of my favorites (if it isn't showing up, here's a link):
