One of our long driving days winding our way from San Simeon to San Francisco found us stopping to laugh at the elephant seals and relatives lounging in the the sand. They are truly amazing in size, the way they scrunch along to the water, how they flop at odd angles, and the tremendous sound they make just because!
We also stopped to play on a beach that Chuck had discovered on his last trip to the coast near the southern portion of the Redwoods. As you can see, it was lovely!

The coastline appeared for a brief time before being enveloped with fog once again.
