For the last couple of years, I've been working on my photography under the direction of my favorite photographer. I know I'm not alone in having taken just ordinary snapshots most of my life. Have to admit, I never thought much about composition; I was just making memories - so many of those are, well, less than flattering... enough said, I'm thinkin'.
So, now, after much very patient instruction, I feel like I'm getting better, though the creativity side is still a little slow. Yesterday, my instructor and I went on a little foray in downtown Puyallup to challenge ourselves to photograph ordinary things in a unique way. Well, I have to say we had a great time wandering around with our cameras. And, I did learn a few things:
~ take several shots of the same thing.
~ find the part that captures your interest and focus just on that.
~ look over the shoulder of the instructor to see what she has framed in her viewfinder.
~ laugh a lot.
~and, take time for a giant apple fritter along the way (sorry, no pic of that one).
Here's my attempt at being creative:

Well done! Well done! I always miss the two of you so much when I see the fun you capture on "film" . . . yeah, I know we don't use film anymore.
the 'instructor' sez you get an A. :-)
I need lessons too. Both of you have a flair for making ordinary things interesting. My pictures are pretty blase.
